Emerald Bay State Park’s rules, as California State Parks publishes them.

What the park prohibits

Dogs aren’t allowed on Emerald Bay’s beaches, trails, shore access roads, boat-in campground, Vikingsholm grounds, Fannette Island, or the Rubicon Trail. That includes Lower Eagle Falls. These restrictions apply year-round; the permitted locations are listed below.

Where dogs are allowed

Dogs are allowed on boats in the bay and at the vista overlook by the Vikingsholm Trail parking lot. The boat-in campground is on land, and the park’s dog rules close it to dogs too.

The park publishes its dog rules on its own page: Emerald Bay State Park, California State Parks • parks.ca.gov.

Fannette Island

Fannette Island is part of Emerald Bay State Park. Dogs aren’t allowed on the island.
